4. Software Setup

4.1. Vehicle Spy

Vehicle Spy is Intrepid’s “Swiss Army Knife” of network development software. If you purchased a license of Vehicle Spy software along with your hardware, an email should have been received with the software license along with installation instructions. If you are unable to find the software installation and licensing information, please contact Customer Support. They will be able to confirm the version of software purchased and provide the software installation package and licensing files for your device.

Once you have Vehicle Spy installed, reference the Vehicle Spy Documentation for tutorials to familiarize yourself with all of the software’s capabilities.

4.2. Intrepid’s Open Source API (libicsneo )

Vehicle Spy is not required to use Intrepid’s hardware. If all of the features of Vehicle Spy are not needed, it may be more cost effective to create custom software to meet the needs of an application. There might also be OEM specific use cases, that require custom software. In these cases, libicsneo is the Intrepid Control Systems device communication library allowing the use of Intrepid hardware with other software packages or custom-written software.

If Vehicle Spy was not purchased, it will be necessary to install Intrepid’s device drivers and hardware configuration utility. Your device should have arrived with a reference card with instructions on where to download the device drivers. If this card is no longer available, the ICS Hardware Installation Kit can be downloaded on the Intrepid website. If any problems are encountered during installation please contact Customer Support.

Once the ICS Hardware Installation Kit has been installed, use the following links for installation and usage documentation of the three APIs of libicsneo.
